There's a new Flying J at I-96/ I-69 junction advertizing $1.92 for reg unl this morning. $2.10 or better everywhere else. They didn't have their diesel price posted though. Wonder if they stick it to the diesels?
As of 20 minutes ago.........
Annandale Va Hess station
Diesel (45 cetane)...............$1.749
Unleaded Regular.................$1.979
I wonder where all those whinin' gas sippers were when we had to pay $1.90-$2.00 a gallon for diesel fuel recently.......
Payback's a,..... well, you know..........

Over the weekend while driving I listened to a long discourse on the oil problems in this country and while I can't verify the figures, it figures, and we are being really slumped. America produces 40% of its own oil, another large percentage from Canada. We only import from OPEC, 20%. The reason that we have rising prices and shortages is not because of crude oil shortages, but because EPA has shut down over 150 refineries in this country and the oil companies have no intentions of replacing them to comply with current EPA regulations.
So why are we constantly bombarded by the "dependance on forign oil" which is blamed on OPEC purchases? Now the president has gone to a plan including gasahol but not a mention of bio for deisels. Looks to me that we could easily produce enough soy oil to offset the 20% and tell OPEC where to go on a flying carpet. That would also put our farms to work. I'll bet that bio is cheaper than diesel with the new prices, although gouging probably has it up too.
The information given says that we are also importing refined fuels because of the shortages of our own refineries. Guess that is also oursourcing.

Woohooo! Saw diesel for $1.99 today.....looks like the price of diesel is dropping again, even though I heard on the news this morning that the price of gasoline has jumped .14 in the last two weeks.
Maybe the gasoline subsidy is over.....
