General Diesel Discussion Talk about general diesel engines (theory, etc.) If it's about diesel, and it doesn't fit anywhere else, then put it right in here.

So are they gonna stop the hummer H2? it gets 11 mpg. If they dont like them, dont buy one, simple as that IMO.

Is the Sierra Club a factor in it's demise? The Excursions were nice, too. Got excellent fuel economy for what they were. And it's probably cleaner than the 30 year old Volkswagons that the Sierra Club members are driving. (Not stereotyping or anything. ) They just don't run off of bong water.

11 MPG in the 60's was 'economy'.... Why not just use Diesel Excursions? I always wanted to put 8 big ole buckets, four rows two abrest, in one of those. With eight TV screens, like an airplane. Kind of out of the budget, though, but cool conversion.

Oh yeah, that's right, "Diesels are evil killers of the environment...".
I spend so much of time arguing the merits of the Diesel powerplant its ridiculous.

While it would probably do more harm than good, how can I get a big plume of smoke to come out while I'm leaving my Sierra Club meeting?

11 mpg in the 60's was economy?

My brothers big block chevy would get 14 every day. My grandmothers 65 Impala would get 21 on the highway. My 427 biscane got 16 if driven correctly.
Fuel was better Epa was not detuning engines.
Sorry for the hijack.

Kinda Funny... I ask the Better half the other night if she wanted to trade the "X" in on a Durango or Tahoe. No way, she likes the room in it.

My sister drives an 2k PS Excursion. 105k miles and the only issue so far was water pump. Pretty good economy for such a large family freighter. We drove it 600 miles last weekend and averaged 16mpg running 80+mph.
