Why can't a Chevy get better mileage than a Dodge? The Duramaxes are capable of getting great mileage.

From my experiences I have never seen a Duramax get better MPG then a Cummins while towing. I guess if you drive it slow enough it may. All of these trucks should of had a similar package. To much mismatch for my taste to have a good shootout.

Just another one of those reviews... It's a good start for the average Joe. But real truckers know the Cummins is the best whether it's a second slower than the Duramax or rides a little stiffer than the Ford.

Duramax is a good engine, no doubt. I don't care what people say, it's still a crammed V8. You can't judge an engine just on how fast it is out of the factory. Speed seems to be all that Duramax owners can brag about.

i was thinking more like three or four years and 150k but what the heck. still won't change me to a ford but at least they tried. and what this 18k i guess its better than nothing. we pull 22k most anytime . thanks for showing it to me i did enjoy watching it. couldn't get me to ride 1145 miles a day for any amount of money unless its in the sky. we just did 800miles in a day and it about killed me. i would rather hand stack hay all day.

lets not forget that they are also towing a 10k lb load... the new 5.7liter Toyota Tundra did a 100,000 mile road test towing 10,500lbs from the bumper... for god's sake, these people are talking HALF-ton jobs being done by medium duty trucks!!! lets put a gooseneck/5th wheel in there with 14,500lbs and THEN we will see how well the GMC does with the 3.73's. the GMC was setup for flat-land hauling or payloads, not big trailer pulling or any mountain duty. if it had 4.10's, it wouldnt be so **** fast...

ill be honest, i drove an 08 silverado, CC, LB, 4x4, LT2 package...man that thing hauled ***. the more you put the pedal down, the harder it pulled. however, it DEFINITLY seemes like its meant for on-road and flat land duty. IFS with torsion bars is NOT what medium-class trucks are made of. IFS is for Sedans and sports cars. Torsion bars are for "quarter ton" and Half ton trucks. MEN-trucks have solid axles and coil springs or Leaf spring front ends!

the GMC was the "nicest" but its also the girliest truck... it just didnt have the same towing potential that the Dodge or the Chevy did... we would have seen a whole different outcome if the GMC was similarly equipped.

i also like how they made a big deal about the Dodge being over $50k... a fully loaded Harley-Davidson F350 is over $50 too!!!! the GMC interior is too car-like. if anyone goes to drive one, pay attention to the plastic trim on the side of the seat as you slide in and out. the leather doesnt last more than 4 years, guaranteed. i couldnt stand the interior on the GMC because it felt too flimsy and was plain as day to the picky eye (like me).

i must say that we pull 6ton plus loads over mt.hood and we are at 250 el. and the pass at the summit is 4000ft with some fairly long grades and with a six speed stick dmax stock it goes as fast as you can safely make the corners with that kind of load on. and has done this dozens of times its dads pickup and i wouldn't buy one but i can't take away from what it does . i think he has 3.70 gears its a 01. coarse i don't want anything to with a wiring loom the size of my arm so that leaves me back in the early ninties where i like it.

I agree to all your comments and to add to flubylux2, I see reviews always making a big deal about interior. At the end of the day, it's just a couple seats and dashboard... All 3 interiors are pretty similar too imo. Frankly, the interior really means nothing to me. If I'm paying a lot of money for a new truck, as long as the interior makes me feel like I'm driving a new truck that's good enough. Heck I even really enjoy my 2nd gen interior. You can always customize it to suit your taste so you like it even more. I guess it all depends on how you set your priorities in a vehicle.

still not understanding the huge crime behind having a truck thats "nice inside" and "comfortable to drive"....I dont know about you but If I had anything more than a 5 gallon mud bucket for a seat and an AM-only stereo in my own truck when I go on long 6, 7, 8 hour trips, Id certainly feel like less of a man. But hey, thats just me!

I agree. There's something twisted about saying less comfortable is preferable, because it's more "manly"

Naw, the new ford and chevy's have much more refined interiors. You can see in the dodge places they should have wrapped some stuff with pleather like the door panels and on the gauge shade like ford does. They also could have used some softer materials else where.... But that didn't stop me from buying my truck although that did stop some people I know.

Who buys a drw 4wd to put it strictly on the highway?
