i love how the CTD and PSD were both duallies, but the chevy was a SRW. if you are going to do a complete test at least wait until the company can give you a dually instead of rushing it out with a SRW
Seemed like a rather inadequate test to me. I don't read these types of test very often. When I do I always find the test vehicles to be all different body styles or options. That then is usually where the difference is that sets them back in the test. As for instance they said the dodge had a small bed. Well why not test one with a full length bed and a normal quad cab. Also who the heck cares how nice and cushy a truck rides. I'm sure impressed with any new truck compared to the heavy trucks I have drove in years past.
Buying a truck to tow a trailer these days is about which one you look best in. The power is always going to be plenty adequate.
None of the people that write these articles have even a remote idea what makes a truck excel from the competition. The whole idea of making some volvo and honda drivers do a writeup on heavy duty diesel trucks is ridiculous. Of course the truck rides rough when you compare it to family sedan. But compare any of the new trucks to my old 91 dodge w250 and they all feel like cadillacs. These tests are completely pointless except to sell magazines to "clueless, look at me I drive a truck too" retards that know nothing. All the trucks are plenty capable of doing anything you need to do. A person just needs to pick the one that suits them the best and that they can get a deal on.
Like comparing apples to oranges. How can anyone claim an accurate test comparison when there was so much of a difference between the trucks? Look at the axle ratios. By this test I can’t tell you which one should be number 1,2 or 3.
One thing that i seen that they did right was to have them all Auto. but the videos all talk about the inside of the truck not how well they pulled a hill or how well they stopped. they did state a few things in the write up. But like was posted before they had three totally diff trucks. they had the Mega when they should have had a reg 4door dually "i know that didn't make any diffrance" and the they had the SRW chevy and as we all know a dually is a better pulling truck because it is alot more stable. So what were they testing for again? i think they needed to be reminded of what they were wanting to accomplish. next time they should take my 2500 and put it up with one or yall's 3500 dually and see which one pulls better. or better yet get a 2500 2wd auto and a 3500 DRW 6speed and hook about 15K on them. it would be as productive as their test. i bet i know which one would win. "my 2500" only because its mine

Somebody put this up last week and I still think it was a bunch of bull, no where near apples and apples. The one thing I thought was interesting is the load they were pulling. Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the Dodge come with a class IV receiver? Isn't it rated at 6000/12,000? 6k for straight pull and 12k when you use load equalizing bars. If I'm correct, then they weren't even legal to be on the highway.
I liked it... Said pretty much if dodge would refine the truck (ie, it's old now) it would have topped the test. I don't really care about that so I'm happy with the test.
Those new Duramaxes rock, but I don't like the V8 diesel.
Anyway if a real trucker mag would test them I bet they'd put the dodge at 1st place

i didn't read or watch the test they ran the rigs thru because i was brought up not to care to much about someones opinion. wouldn't ask anyone else there opinion of a women, house or car so what do i care if some test and gives there idea of which rig is best. and wouldn't it be boring if everything was the same.
Should all the transmission ratios be the same? Of course not.
If anything, the Dodge would benefit from the taller gearing because it would showcase the low end grunt of the CTD.

I was pointing more towards MPGs. There is no way in real world conditions the Chevy gets better MPGs then the Dodge. The final gear in the trans on all three aren't that far off for each other. They sould of been all the same packages like you stated
