Smile ford diesel

I just bought a dump truck. It has the Ford diesel in it and I know nothing about a diesel made by Ford. It has a pump that i think is a P7100. If anyone can tell me anything good or bad about this engine i would appreciate it. Thanks in advance,
Sam

What year and duty rating is it? You sure its not a cummins in there? I think ford did make their own diesel for trucks, but I can't recall what pump or what cubic inch they were.

Ford diesel

Thanks for the response Mike. The engine is a 7.8 liter and the rocker arm cover looks more like an old ford 6 cyl. gas engine than anything else I'm familiar with. The truck is a 1990 model and it has an Allison transmission. I wish it was a Cummins but it definitely is not. Only the pump looks like anything on a Cummins.

I think it is one of those 7.8 Ford Brazilian diesels with a Bosch P7100 pump. We had a few boom trucks with this. The motors did alright, but once the pumps were turned up, they ran a lot better.

It's an OK engine. Take care of it and it will last a long time.

That's my video!
Being a 90, it may have the MW style pump, not the P-pump. That one uses a fuel screw, which takes about 10 min, to adjust. Do a search for Low Buck Fuel rate site, I put it in the DT466 section. I can't post the link to it on here.

Keep an extra set of belts, and keep up on regular mainenance, and it'll stay running like a champ.
