He is about 20 miles NNW of West Union IA or about 15 miles SSW of Calmar IA. St Lucas is on the cross roads of County roads W14 and B44 that are located between State Hwy 18 and 24.

Texan1983,

I will have to agree its nice to live in IA.

Tranny Update

Went out to St, Lucas Iowa wed night and arrived Thursday morning around 10:30am. We took the truck on a test drive got it back in the shop by 11 and the trans was out in under 30 minutes. Tear down showed exactly what Dave had said was wrong with the trans and I elected to go with a tranny Dave built for me - Triple Disc TC, VB, Billet Input/Output/intermediate. New trans was in and we were on the road testing by 2:22pm and i was on my way by 2:45pm.

Dave and the guys were great and I can't believe how much better the truck runs now and it makes me wonder how long the tranns really was acting up cause its never run this good!!

Well worth the trip out to St. Lucas!

Dave use to be our secret in IA until they started to do write ups in the local news papers and then the whole USA found out about Dave and St, Lucas Iowa.

Well I dropped the truck off with Dave this am and OF COURSE we could not get it to shudder in 3rd locked. I drove with him for about 20 miles and then let him drive. He agreed the converter was slipping (thank god I'm not nuts) He said to call back about 2:00 today for an update, could be done or pickup tomorrow. Great guy.

No word yet. Will keep everyone posted.

Dave just called back. It's done and I got off on the cheep. Tq converter VB apply straps, input, new pan ,bigger, with drain and misc stuff. Sun gears looked good and the OD "unit" was good so...

Tomorrow AM I'll be driving a new trans. He wants me to drive with it for a bit to make sure the 3rd 4th shift is what I want. He will make adjustments if I want.

How do you get customer service like this?

Only in Iowa that's for sure.

Thanks DAVE and everyone on this site for saying Goerend is the way to go.

More to come after my 900 mile trip home. Believe me I won't be nervous passing tractors on a single lane road with oncoming traffic 2 hills away hoping the converter doesn't slip this time

Well I'm back with over 1000 miles logged on the new trans and I haven't giggled like this in years. The truck is an absolute joy to drive again. You press the go peddle and it actually moves not just makes noise I wish it was tax time again so I could afford more goodies. At least now the trans is ready for anything I throw at it.

I agree with what everyone has already said. Dave is the man, he called me yesterday (saturday) and spent close to an hour on the phone with me discussing some questions I had. I built my own trans and just had some normal questions about specs. He gave me more info than I could ever ask for.

Thats not even customer service, I didn't even buy anything yet! Dave's just a good guy, and he really knows these transmissions.

Thanks again Dave! I'll definately be calling again, next time to order some billet.

You guys are killing me here. My tranny is slipping bad and TC is shuddering bad. I ordered my tranny from dave on friday. Triple Disc Converter, Deep Pan, HD flexplate, Billet Input. It should be here later this week or early next week.

The anticipation is killing me. I can't wait.
