General Diesel Discussion Talk about general diesel engines (theory, etc.) If it's about diesel, and it doesn't fit anywhere else, then put it right in here.

I know what you mean. Nice conversion by the way....looks like the factory put it there(which is the way I like to see them). How was the electronic side of everything? I have to assume you had to use part of both the donor and original to make it work.

Thanks...

As for the electronics, I thought it was relatively easy (however, I do have an EE degree which may have helped a little ).

It wasn't too bad if you have both the dodge and ford wiring manuals and determine which features you want to make work (just time consuming).

There are some parts of the donor that need reused to work with the cummins. I'm still getting all the little details finished....

Yeah, if it were not for the money I would have liked to do a 24V. I worked as a controls engineer for 6 years, so I really enjoy projects like yours. I built and programmed a couple of ECU's for my race truck. I can pull up a digital gauge panel and do live datalogs with the laptop as well as live tuning with the engine running. It is fun; I run the truck, take datalogs, analyse and tune it on the kitchen table, then download and go again. It is nice when tuning a turbocharged, EFI gasser because they are quite picky on tuning. One of these days I would like to be able to do a diesel the same way. However, the DIY market for diesel controller is not out there yet as far as I know.
