F250 with a cummins, or stick with dodge?

I was wondering, after looking around a at a couple websites, a cummins conversion into a super duty doesnt seem too bad, but my question is, is the truck itself any better or worse than a dodge truck? I mean since im considering a swap the drivetrain is of no issue, but what about the axles, suspension, and other parts of the trucks? Would a F250 with a cummins be the best bet, or would i be better off just sticking with a dodge. Also if the conversion is the way to go, I was think of HPCR or a 12v the only reason i consider the HPCR is the fact that with a tuner I can turn some of the mods on and off. What transmission should i go with, I want a manual for sure but what type? Thanks for any help and insight.

IMO the ford is a nicer truck, and the axles etc. are comparable between the two. But in the end it all depends on which truck you like better. So get to swapping and have fun (and post pics of whatever you do.)

I've got a friend that I've been helping a bit on building a 92 F250 with a p-pumped 24 valve. It has parts off of about 7 different trucks on it when its done. If you have a truck you jus want to pull a motor and trans and put another in its place then it shouldn't be that bad. The only thing would be that I think ford leaf springs are a heavier duty than dodge but other than that they would be about the same. Jus depends on what you want.

If I were to do it, I would put a Cummins in a 99 or older chevy. I wouldn't even waste an ugly rock throwing it at a Ford. I had a couple of Ford trucks a lot of years ago and the bad taste is still in my mouth. Poorest quality of anything I have ever seen. Heck I would even take a Yugo over a Ford truck.

All of my extended family have or still run Fords. is all I can say. Suspension problems, heater problems, seat problems, brake problems, lug stud problems (resulting in an unintended touchdown ), steering pump problems (you can always tell a rig made by FOMOCO, all you hear is a great gear whining sound ). I might consider a Chevy, but I would stick with a Dodge. I agree on the 12v or common rail. As for tranny's, I have heard good and bad about NV4500, NV5600, and even the good ole GETRAG, Personally I would go with the 4500 or 5600. 6 speed would be nice, the CTD always needed more highway gearing IMO.

My family, for the most part, has always owned fords and never had any problems with them. I myself like the looks of the super duty's better, but I had neither the time, nor the money to swap a cummins into a ford, so I went with a dodge. Can't say I'm extremely happy with the truck (love the engine and tranny ) They all have their issues, I think its just a matter of which you like better. One thing I've always noticed on Fords is they always seem to do things twice as complicated on their vehicles as it needs to be.

A conversion is worth it if you have the time and patience. The parts arent terribly expensive but it takes time.

I have owned all of the big 3 trucks and the Ford is by far the better truck of the 3, minus the Powerstroke. The build quality is much much better than the Dodge/Chevy.

I would like one time for the "Ford is better build quallity" persons to park a Ford next to my Dodge and SHOW ME. I have owned two Ford trucks and four Dodge trucks.
My assesment at this time is that Dodge is the better all around truck.
