exhaust
exhaust
i have an aquintance who owns a rainbow muffler franchise . He insists that i would benifit in both power and fuel milelage if i were to just run straight pipe exhaust. says it would be much louder when accelerating but i would not notice much if any difference when crusing the interstate at 70 mph as is what i am doing with the truck mostley.
anyone done this straight exhaust thing that can verify what he is telling me?

Mine is not much louder at idle, but when you touch the go pedel you know it's a straight pipe, and it has a more noted drone at freeway speeds. At first I thought, what did I do? Now that I'm used to it,it;s not that bad. In my opinion it's louder at all rpm's except idle. The more you give it the louder it gets.
I have a 4" downpipe into a 5" straight pipe... sound is awesome. At idle you certainly know it's running but it's not that overpowering(IMO
) Once you step on the go pedal it comes on strong and loud, people certainly know you're coming... you will turn heads.
cruising at 70 isn't that bad, definitely a noticeable drone but that's what the volume **** is for if it gets bothersome...
