Durasmack....

Aight, I was trucking down I-30 minding my own when a lifted Duracrap pulled up beside me. I was cruising around 70 up hill when ding dong wants to get on it. So I do, and I pull away from him. About the time he gets to my exhaust,(I guess he got tired of the smoke in his face) he starts to gain back and slowly pulls away. The whole time, we are up hill. I "assume" that he had an adjustable box and had to turn it up once he fell behind. Which box can I get that won't kill my IP to prevent this from happening again? Or will RV275's w/my EZ be enough?

No matter what you do, there will always be someone out there who might be faster.
Don't sweat the small stuff, just smile and wave when you see him after your Cummins rolls over 200,000 miles and he's on his 3rd Duramax.

I would get a bully dog box. Those boxes are crazy when you install them. My friend has one in his,and I couldn't believe how much power it had gave him all through his gears. Next time ask him to pull then you shouldn't have any problems there.

Shovelhead's right. Most of your options will involve tapping the wire, unless you want to upgrade injectors.

I upgraded injectors on my 2002 and it never happened again . The 1998.5 with a 5 speed is another story I think that thing could get out ran by a vw bug.

Who cares IMO, what matters is a cummins can pull 15000lbs its whole life everyday for 300,000 miles and still run like new. I'm gonna buy a connecting rod for a 5.9 and when durasmacker's and strokers want to talk, I'll just pull it out, and show them the beef.

Just print a copy of this picture and show them.......

This is the Power?Stroke and the Cummins I think the third is from a SB Chevy)

There's another picture somewhere that I'm still looking for that campares all three diesel powerplants.

Here it is:

Plenty of power options to stop that from happening again, edge ez is only good for 60hp, if he was stock you should have beat him going up that hill. Most likely he had some type of box on also, just bigger than yours. Remember his stock at least was 300 hp, yours was 245 hp. Get a comp, drag comp, MAD ECM or injectors, and say goodbye to him next time.

As Shovelhead stated there is always someone faster than you out there, it all depends how much they've done to their rig. You can be prepared for the next time though, get better mileage than them, tow faster uphills, and still outlive their truck and engine many times over.

Hate to tell you this, but no single add on box is going to let a VP44 truck beat a DMAX, especially one that's had even mild bombs.

I think I could take most DMAX with a Catcher and M4s, but these are 150hp sticks, and I'd only have a chance in top gear roll-on. Racing from a stop, I'd get trounced (rowing the 6er, y'know).

It's best to enter into combat well-prepared. Speak softly and carry an armored tank division.

I'd guess that a TST/Catcher stack with Mach 4s would take care of MOST DMAXs you are likely to encounter, but there's always someone faster.

You shouldn't be upset about losing an impromptu race, nor should you be all that happy for winning one.

A comp or some decent injectors and you would have cleaned his plow. All them D-Max boys know that if you wanted to throw the $ at your CTD, they couldnt do anything to stop you from outrunning them, or outpulling them, so they are stuck in 2nd place. He was probably in a hurry to get to the junkyard anyway's.

That's some funny stuff fellas. The only thing I'm concerned w/on a comp and sticks is that it will kill that VP44 and shorten the life of "The Goat".
Will my stock clutch hold w/that setup, or should I just put Mach 1.6's w/my EZ and leave it alone? I realize I am never going to be the fastest, b/c that is not how I want my truck set up. I want a solid daily driver that will <edit for language> & Git when I need it too.
