I had an 04.5 LLY version of the duramax and sold it to buy a lot less expensive 01 dodge cummins. I loved my chevy, and chevy is all I have ever owned until this dodge. I can't really compare my chevy to this dodge because of the age difference. My LLY never got the mileage it should have in my opinion. I never saw over 15mpg with it bone stock or with edge juice/attitude. Most of my driving was back and forth to work. The LB7 or first version of the motor was getting everyone 19-23 mpg from what everyone on the forums said. It was very fast, dependable, and would pull whatever I put behind it. My 01 dodge with 117,000 mile is doing as good on mileage as the duramax was when I sold it with 30,000 miles. I'm hoping the comp I just bought will help out, but the difference in gearing (3.55's) and tranny makes it a totally different truck. I will probably be a cummins guy from now on but will find it hard to put down chevrolet because I have been with them for so long.

I don't see a reason to put down Cehvy. You either like them, accept them, or don't. I buy what I want and I don't care about the next guy's choices. If I am asked I will give my opinion but opinions are like different body parts, everybody has one.

I think they're ALL good, and they all have their plusses and minuses. It can be said for those of us that drive either a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd gen Dodge. It is a preference thing. Personally, I have liked Mopar for a long time and that is all I own. I love the Cummins diesel, but think the Duramax is a good motor too. I have owned chevy trucks and think they were great trucks. Fords, I never likes the interiors, and that is pretty much why I never went with them. As for the 6.0...with as many problems that they have had, I don't understand why someone would spend $45,000 plus for a motor that might be great or might not. It's like buying a gun that might fire or might not. I want a gun that will fire EVERY time. The Dodge/Cummins, and for that matter Mopar, has proven itself time and time again for me, so that is what I will stick with

If the 06 GMCs came with a cummins, solid front axle, and a nv5600, Id buy one in a heartbeat. The interior/seats is incredible in those trucks. Rides nice to, (IFS) but Id rather have a solid feel of a straight axle. Better just keep my 04 I guess.

I don't have a problem with the Chevy trucks or their owners for that matter. I think a guy has the right to be proud of whatever he chooses to spend his hard earned dollars on.

Owning a particular brand of vehicle does absolutely nothing to increase your manhood. Drive what makes you happy and don't worry about the stupid stuff

I personally think that the Chevy interior is way nicer than the Dodge. I'm not really a big fan of Dodge. They look nice, but if the Cummins was in a Chevy and the Chevy had a solid front axle, thats what I would be driving. I know like 5 people with 2nd gens (01-02) that have big holes in the dash. Just a cheaply made truck IMHO. But I'll keep driving it til it falls apart and then I'll get a new one. All for the Cummins baby!

I actually like them all, I`m just a Dodge guy at heart but I know folks with both D-Max`s and P-Strokes and they are nice rigs also (even tho the ford is broken more often than not, the truck itself is pretty nice). I say whatever floats yer boat....did i mention my better half prefers the Bow-Tie brand? Chevy Equinox, so far 20,000 trouble free miles, nice little x-over ute.

Well guys, I just traded off the truck in my sig for an 04.5 GMC LLY Duramax EC/SB 4x4. Let me tell you right now, The GMC is a much nicer truck. It rides better, drives better, and is more luxurious and roomy than my 01 Dodge. I love my new Duramax, Its bone stock except for a straight pipe and it runs awesome. Im really liking that Allison tranny too.

But on the other hand, If I had to do it over again, I would stick to a Cummins. I miss my 01 bad. It was a lot of fun to drive with all the mods I had on it. I wish I would have just bought a 3rd gen Cummins or just kept my 01. But I have always been diehard Chevy until I bought my 01 Dodge. That Dodge opened my eyes and I loved it. I just wanted something newer with more room and less miles.

Both trucks are good trucks. It just depends on what you want to do with them. If you are gonna work em, get a cummins 6-speed. If you are gonna drive em and want a smooth comfortable truck, get a duramax with the allison.

Really, I mean come on here there are a lot of people on here and other Cummins forums that do the same exact stinkin' thing! It's called cocky Cummins guy syndrome. I'm cocky to a point, but i'm not gonna completely trash an engine and truck like the GM's calling it junk when it's not. They're just not what some of us prefer. There's two types of Diesel owners to me....the ones that respect their fellow owners no matter who made the engine, and those who think their pooh doesn't stink.
