Drove an Arctic Cat 700 diesel yesterday!

The friendly folks at A1 Small Engines & Accessories in Pensacola offered me a demo ride. They had just shipped 7 of the Arctic Cat 700 diesels to the Air Force at Eglin AFB. I think the one I rode was going also. Nice machine----definitely not snappy on the throttle response but it felt about unstoppable. I'd say its a strong full-size machine that's docile enough to not be too much machine for younger kids. Six kinds of fuel and 30% better fuel economy is good for me.

The other diesel ATV's on the market have been SLOW, but usually the people who would be interested in one are looking to do farm work with the convenience of being able to run on diesel they already have on hand...

How was the suspension and handling? A buddy has a new AC 650, and it's planted and has tons of ground clearance, but rides like a brick and the steering really pushes back. Setting the preload to full soft helped.

I bet there are some talented guys on this board who could make it a little more "snappy"! How about a pair Don M injectors and a turbo kit of some sort.

..

I would love to have one. Be a nice addition to our diesel Mule and Kubota RTV1100. And one common fuel.

I have a buddy that had a Polaris diesel 4-wheeler a few years ago. At the time I thought he was nuts - he had a 98 Dodge 12v (why would anyone ever need a truck like that?!) and then he bought a diesel 4 wheeler. We all made fun of him because he loved the diesels. (I am eating my words now!) Anyway - he sold it because it was really, really loud and it stunk like diesel so it wasn't the best machine for the hunting he was using it for. I think he sold it for more than he paid for it after a couple years of use.
