Dodge and Cummins>>>>>>>Mercedes

MB makes a fantastic diesel engine- I have ties to several vehicles powered by them- 2 MB unimogs (the ultimate offroad and unviersal truck) and Snow trail groomers favor MB's too.
The MB is a much lighter engine by design in the same way the Navstar is lighter by design and the Isuzu is lighter which would make it a wonderful option for Jeeps and 1500 (or Dakota's....) as opposed to the massive CTD.
The partership between Cummins and Dodge/Chrysler corp was the first partrnership putting medium duty diesel engines into medium/light duty trucks in the industry- according to Cummins it is not in jepordy at any point (unlike the Ford Navstar issues of the recent 2 years). MB engines may be an option for the 07 Rams, but so will the CTD- and I expect the CTD will be the favored option still.
Just because the DD tech claims it will happen means nothing- you all realise this right? The reason that shop is getting MB training related stuff is simply because of the Sprinter- that's it. All Dodge and Mercedes service facilities need MB and Dodge service capability and with Sprinter being sold under the Dodge Marque, Dodge dealers need to be familier with the MB engine work.
Remember in 2000 Dodge had the Powerwagon concept truck? Remember what engines was in that? Not a CTD. Not an MB either. Infact not even a DC company- it was a CAT. An 8L Cat engine. There were never plans for DC to use Cat engines in their trucks sh why the Cat engine? Because it was a concept vehicle which is designed to show possibilities and options.
Don't read too much into this stuff guys, really.
Thanks for keeping us in tune with reality, justme-.
After all this discussion, I really want to see what happens when we finally learn what's really going in the 2007 Ram and see what people say. Will it be "I knew it would be that the whole time." or "that's what I said it would be!" It will be fun to see I think.
