This was just discussed a few days ago. Cummins will be in these trucks till at least 2010. Do a search, the post was about 3-4 pages long.

Back in 2001 a D.C. rep told me the maybe/kinda plan that was in the works was STANDARD in the trucks would be Cummins and D.C.built auto's.The OPTINAL engine trans was a BIG M.B.diesel and M.B.built trans.(Bigger trucks also)All subject to change of course. But that what at the time was being thrown around.

I spoke with a courier driver that has a sprinter. He just turned 476k on it and he said he has been super happy with it. He had some problems with it at first but after that it has run really well, with good fuel economy to boot. I don't know if this is typical of the MB diesels but if it is I won't have any worries about a MB engine in a DC truck.

OK, I'm hig jacking the thread.
There is a rumor of an Mercedes 6 speed auto tranny with the new(6.1/6.7) and old (5.9) Cummins engine. There is also rumor of a Mercedes (small 4 banger) engine going into the RAM (all sizes) as an option.
Of course RUMORS are like A$$ holes, we have atleast one

Well, I heard that Cummins has the 2500 and 3500 trucks sewn up thru 2010, but DC will be offering Mercedes diesels as an option in the 4500 and 5500 trucks to come out in 2007. Freightliner/Sterling is going to build them, and rebadge them for Dodge.
The 2007 Cummins will be the stroked 6.7 L engines to meet stricter emissions.

Just like Ferd does with the 650 trucks- FlowerPoke or Cummins, your choice.

The bad thing is you see the big rigs going 15 mph up little hills, they may have big hp but dont pull for nothing, freightliner started putting the mb in a lot of trucks, now most are for sale, many, many people were dissatisfied with the hyped up MB engine compared to the Cummins, Cats, and Detroits
