Dodge and Cummins

Hi. Newbie, here. I'm wondering if anyone out there would be kind enough to answer a couple of general questions.

I'm in the market for a used truck. I would prefer to find a cummins diesel powered dodge, if affordable. If a truck is advertised as a Dodge Diesel, but doesn't specify the make of the engine, can I assume it's Cummins after a certain year? In other words, I'm trying to find out how to tell if an advertised truck has a cummins motor, and whether all Dodge Diesels are Cummins motors after '89.

I apologize if I seem confused. It's because I am.

Thanks a bunch to anyone who would give me the information I need to find my truck.

-Erich

All Dodge diesels have the Cummins in them. Unless someone was trying to pull a cruel joke and swapped in a Power "I'm havin' a" stroke.

Just look for an 89 or newer and you will get a cummins
In the late 70's (78+79) mabe a couple other years there were some full size dodge pickups that had a diesel mitsubishi in them.

seventies dodge diesel

not quite right guys, dodge had a diesel in the seventies. It was a non turbo six cylinder, that could barely pull it's own weight. My uncle had one,it was a good truck for what he used it for,and he had very little trouble with it,it just had no power.

Just FYI... 94-98.5 had the best fuel system, 96-98.5 5spds had higher hp - 215, 98.5-02 had lift and injector pump problems, 01.5 had the first rear disc brakes, 03 was the first quieter CR system - still have lift pump problems but the rest is fine, and 07 is the start of ULSD and emissions from south of here!
