Dodge CTD resale

I have been looking around at prices on 04's Are thet really getting 20k for one? I am seriously considering selling mine if I can get 20k for it. Hell I only paid 25k for it 4 years ago. I am really tired of the payments and the cost of fuel. My truck costs me about 900 a month to drive. Thats fuel, insurance and payment. I only use it for plowing. And I am only a subcontacter.

Depends on what the market is doing, you'll have to sell it private. But, yeah, you can get it. My next door neighbor just bought an 03 6.0 ford for 21 and some change... there is a sucker born every minute...

Depending on the condition and mileage and everything I would think you coujld get it. I was going to move my truck loan to a different bank, and the new bank blue booked my 02 at 18k and some change.

When I traded in my '03 on my '08 it retailed for about 20.5k and I got 15.9k on the trade in value. Not bad for a 5 year old truck with 88k miles on it.

What the dealer is asking and what you get are two very differant numbers. Check KBB and see what book value is for a private sale, that would be a lot closer.

With as many mods as you've done, you'll lose your shirt. Aftermarket parts and upgrades only return about 25% - on a good day.

If you decide to sell, considering putting it back close to stock and sell those hard parts for cash.

OTOH, do you really need the truck you have? Maybe a 1/2 ton gasser would fill the bill better for you, and save some big bux month to month. You already own that V10........

Around here a clean 03-05 will only bring around 11k-16k.

A CLEAN 5.9L CR equipped truck will fetch a premium price around here. It seems that there are lots of newer truck owners looking to swap back to the NON- regen engines.
Myself and other 5.9 owners have had people strike up conversations in parking lots and fuel islands inquiring whether its a 5.9L and if its for sale... There arent any on the used lots either...

A local dealer has an '06 2500 MegaCab 4x4 5.9 auto with 74k miles, their asking price is $32.9k. Completely nuts.

A 5.9 is like gold here in the Bryan College Station area. I got my 04 maybe a year and a half for 11K. It's super clean and well equipped. I have at least 3 people a week ask if I wanna sell it. A buddy just got the same truck, except blue, all stock, and long bed for 18.5k. I could get 20 easy for mine. I went to the dealer where he got his and when the salesman found out I had one, he asked if I'd be willing to bring it in to see if they could make me an offer on it.

When I sold my 97 (in excellent condition 4 yrs ago) with 97k miles, it only took a few days to find a buyer who bought it sight/unseen and had it shipped to him. Compared to the prices of gas 97s, I got all the CTD option $$ back. After seeing the latest truck comparison in Diesel Power, I may keep my 03 for the rest of my life. The 11 CTDs were a total disgrace in the performance areas! You better find a pre 07.5 CR before everyone reads the last Diesel Power. Craig
