Thats why you go with 2/0 welding cable. It has a BIG conductor.

I got them through Noco but you can order them through AW Direct.
Here is the link to the site.

Thanks Jim, those Extreme Duty 800amp clamps look like they'd handle the current and with longer handles for better leverage.
IKER42, those ought to jumpstart that big Onan!
My gosh, you'd think we were jumpstarting locomotives!

i uses #0 gauge wire, we had a monster spool of S.O. cord that was #0 size. i ran the wire from the battery to my hitch on the rear. i use the big forklift battery connector, then a set of 20' cables hooked up to a set of clamps i got off the snap-on man. they were the best ones i could find. and i have a 25' extension with the forklift quick connect clamps that i can use if i need it. i also use this to run my winch when i mount it on the trailer. i have about 8' of cable on the winch and i just plug it in.

we use heavy welding cable at work for booster cables, and the crappy [in my opinion] electrode holders on either end. they clamp nicely onto the battery knife switch on the loco's at work.. you should see the cables jump when you start one of the engines with starter motors on them [some use the main generator as a starter].

Nick, do loco's still use a 67voltDC electrical system? I know I've worked on some old Motorola VHF 2-way radios with strange connectors on them that supposedly came from loco's and they required a 67vdc input.

Man, I bet that can cause some real arc flashes when a mistake is made in jumpstarting...
