I saw $2.039 this morning. That's the highest I've seen diesel here in St.Creaturesburg Florida. Premium gas was $1.989. I'm still ahead by about $6.00 a week with diesel mileage verses my buddy's 2500 Hemi's 14~mpg average. I should break even with the diesel option in 15yrs or so...

Filled up last night and thought I was lucky to get it at 1.94.
Truck stops are 1.99 and 2.05. Most regular stations are at the 1.99.
A lot of Big trucks on the road maybe I need to carry a 12 volt pump and hit the truck stops??

"Retail diesel fuel prices rose by 10.0 cents this week to a national average of 201.2 cents per gallon, which is 58.3 cents per gallon higher than a year ago. Retail diesel prices are reflecting not only the rise in crude oil prices, but also pressure from strong demand and high spot prices for heating oil. Prices were up throughout the country, with the East Coast seeing the largest increase of 11.4 cents to reach 201.9 cents per gallon. California prices remained the highest, rising 8.4 cents to average 223.6 cents per gallon."

It was $2.099 at the pump I use yesterday when I topped off for this week end's trip to see me pappy. At 10.5mpg towing our 5th wheel, it adds up quick. But I didn't buy the best truck on the market to feed it the cheapest fuel I can find. I'll just see if I can drive a little less. Maybe even a little slower if it goes high enough to affect my livelyhood. I might even go back to a smaller travel trailer. We got 15-17mpg towing our 18.5 Aljo with our '95 Dodge Cummins auto/3.54. I'm a long way from driving a Honda...

Hmmmmmmmmmm. Now THERE'S an idea. Wonder what kinda mileage we'd get if we dropped a Cummins into a Honda?

There was an interesting article in the Houston Chronicle this morning that pointed out a factor that I hadn't considered. The U.S. dollar has dropped significantly in value against the Euro and the Yen over the last few years. Therefore, while we're paying $50/bbl for crude oil, Europe is paying the equivalent of $35/bbl due to the increased purchasing power of the Euro - ditto Japan and the Yen. Because of this, demand for petroleum products in Europe and Japan hasn't slacked off at all because of high prices - in fact, it's increasing. They stated that the Europeans are actually paying less for oil than they did in the early 1980's on an inflation adjusted basis.

Even if the price of diesel fuel is slightly higher than regular unleaded, I'm still coming out ahead with the diesel compared to my '98 Chevy 1/2 ton gasser. Getting 3-4mpg better with the diesel.
Wonder if slowing down to 55mph will increase my fuel economy to 24-25mpg?

Diesel Prices
Can anyone tell me why diesel is way more exspensive than super gasoline.
Up here in the great northwest I see it for as much as $2.40 a gal. When premium gas is only about $2.15. This makes me madder than H**L.
