Diesel@$4.39 in San Diego!

Well even here in the most regulated, sunshine taxed state in the union, diesel has dropped to $4.39 at an independent station. Hopefully,it'll keep dropping. You guys elsewhere must be seeing sub-$4.00 prices I hope.

nope, lots of moderately taxed states are still north of $4.50. it seems that fuel stations took a big hit in California when diesel went over $5, so they are passing their spot price savings onto you, so they can get their sales back up to normal. in many other parts of the country, the high prices didn't affect sales much, so the stations are keeping their prices high and taking in some of the biggest profits they've ever seen. i have diesel driving friends all over the mid-west, living in states with pretty reasonable fuel taxes (compared to California), and they have seen diesel prices drop an average of .06/gallon.
there are still 12 states averaging over $4/gallon for gas!

Cheapest I have found here is $4.74 when I filled up today. Of course we have one of the top three, if not the highest, fuel tax rate here.

your taxes are 12 cents/gallon cheaper than California, but you're paying .40/gallon more at the pump.

Seen $4.45 here in Virginia. Down from around $5 a couple weeks ago. The gap in pricing between diesel and regular unleaded seems to be decreasing substantially all of a sudden as well.

We have at least 5 refineries here in Kern County (largest oil patch in Ca and the west coast) and the Price of RUG is 4.14 and #2 is 4.79 at almost every station in town/county , Why is that?. And why was the largest bio diesel plant in the US located in Kern County (Burnt down in 06) and no bio diesel pumps anywhere to be found?. Seems like price fixing to me..
Doug.
