Datsun 81' King Cab Diesel

My neighbor has the above mentioned truck and would like to sell it. I've been told that it was a limited edition. Is this true, and if so, how can he go about getting the most for the old truck? The body is in decent shape and the motor still runs at 350K+ miles.

Where are you at and what does he want for it. Looking at doing a Diesel conversion in a 74 triumph spitfire.

Not sure about that too much, but this looks quite interesting (except for the mind-boggling high price)

Toyota

I had an '81 Toyota diesel. It also got 36 mpg, and for somebody fresh out of college that was handy. It was naturally aspirated, though, and was short on power.

I saw someone do this with a 3cyl Yanmar. It was pretty neat and the mileage was incredible! Think I could wedge a B3.9 into my TR6??

i'm running a '83' diesel ford ranger
it has a mazda built perkins 2.2 diesel engine
35-38 mpg 56 hp
200,000 + miles on the engine
i just returned from a trip to long beach, ca. i hauled all of my fuel/veg oil.
total load on truck and trailer, 6,000 lbs and i still averaged 27 mpg.
fuel cost for the trip was for 3 gallons of diesel. (start up fuel).
main fuel tank 80% #2 diesel
2nd fuel tank 100% veg oil (heated to 160'f by engine coolant)

Ive heard of it done with the 3 cyl Kubota from a generator that got 135 mpg. My drive to work is only 10 miles a day. I could go 3 months on one tank of diesel.

I too had an '81 Nissan diesel during college. That truck was great, mileage very good but lacking in the power department. I also had a 1986 Ford Tempo diesel; another oddball. This was the mileage king.

As far as the value of the Nissan, he could try something like ebay??? An efficient diesel light duty pickup should not be a tough sell.
