Dangerous Tire Alert

Folks, this ran on the a.m. news today and pertains to tires manufactured in China. It looks like it includes light truck, van and SUV tires, maybe others. If you have additional info, please post it up.

Montgomery (AP) - Alabama Attorney General Troy King says the federal government is warning drivers that they may have faulty tires that could be vulnerable to belt and or tread separation.

The tires are for light trucks, sport utility vehicles and vans.

In June, Foreign Tire Sales told federal highway officials that some tires manufactured in China under the names Westlake, Compass and YKS may not hold belts in place. So far, there has NOT been a recall, but one may begin later this month.

King, in a statement today, said the affected tires have a tire size starting with "LT" or light truck, as well as a DOT number that starts with "7D" and ends in either "02", "03", "04", or "05".

Additional information can be obtained from the Federal Trade Commission web site at www.foreigntire.com</B>. You may also contact the Attorney General's Office of Consumer Protection at 1-800-392-5658. </B></STRONG></SPAN></B></STRONG></SPAN>

First they sent foodstuff that killed our pets, then lead paint on toys, now bad tires. This is not simply shoddy goods, but products that will kill us. Time to stop buying, and importing, Chinese crap.

And now fuses that don't fuse: https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...d.php?t=162998

Alght, Well, if you have a list of tires that are manufactured here in the states then lets hear it. I don't think people understand that the cost of almost everything would go up significantly if we did not do as much importing as we do.

Crash, please don't generalize my statement. I was protesting imports from China in particular, not imports in general from other places. And my obvious point is that we don't need imports that kill us, do you not agree?

If we didn't buy it, they wouldn't import it.

Of course, avoiding Chinese stuff means no more Wal-mart

Our family shops diligently trying to buy products made in USA. Unfortunatly more often than not we cannot find a lot of the things we need that bear the "made in USA" stickers

I try to avoid Chinese products, have for some time. I also try to buy American, but truthfully America makes very little these days. I would rather pay more to support my fellow Americans wherever possible.

Sorry, your first comment just rubbed me the wrong way right off the bat. I do agree with you on that point.
