Cure for the common guage rattle ???
I have a fuel pressure guage that is rattling. Even with the snubber valve (needle valve). I tried varying the amount of closing and open of the valve with no luck. This thing is driving me nuts. Anyone got any ideas?

I have an ISSPRO mechanical fuel pressure guage on my pillar.
I opened the needle valve a tiny bit from closed and it is silent. I mean, a 64th of a turn or so.
ine is off the bottom of the fuel filter housing though. If yours is tapped off the test port on the VP 44, that may be contributing to the issue.

Not sure how this would work with your setup but there are pressure snubbers:

Havent tried one myself but it may be a cure for you

Setting the needle valve so the gauge doesn't rattle is a two person job. Close the valve all the way, start the engine and have someone watch as you open the valve. As soon as the gauge responds stop. Like what was said above it will take very little.
My needle valve is closed down so far it only jumps to about 5 psi when I turn the key on. After starting it takes 3-4 sec before it comes all the way up....but it stopped the rattle!
Anyone know if you stop the rattle...can the gauge last as good as new, or is it still the beginning of the end?

I'm with RJ--
My gauge is tapped right off the VP. For a long time, it made no noise with no snubber (and braided stainless line even).
I ended up adding an 18" section of grease gun hose and a needle valve.
Bill and RJ are right-- it doesn't take much opening at all to get the gauge to work. On my truck, FP takes a little while to climb and fall. When you shut the truck down, it takes about 2 seconds for the FP to read zero.
I have mine as far open as I can and still stop the rattle. A lot of it has to do with the gauge you use. I have a Hewitt 30psi from Enterprise Engine and like it a lot.
