This is great news. Put a Cummins in everything I say. The USA needs to get over gasoline

There are a lot of vehicles I would buy with a Cummins that I would NOT normally buy otherwise.

FWIW....."George Peterson, an analyst with AutoPacific in Tustin, Calif., said Ford Motor Co. is the most likely buyer of the engine"

This might be the biggest reason it won't be Dodge if that's the case:

"Dodge's parent company, DaimlerChrysler, may also be interested in using Cummins engines in other vehicles, but Peterson said the automaker already has several diesel engines available from its Mercedes and Detroit Diesel divisions."

Benz has great diesels. I would drive a Benz powered Dodge but I think Daimler is afraid to lose many customers that way. We are going to see the Benz diesel in the Grand Cherokee right? The I5 in the Sprinter is Benz right?

Really any way this goes it is great news I think.

Toyota with a Cummins = Dodge who, what???????? I would love to see this happen, besides the fact that the truck would cost $10,000 more than the Dodge.

Like a Dodge pickup truck? I know that's what sold me on the Dodge.

Can you imagine the powerstroke boys reaction if Ford put a Cummins in the superduty?
Resale value on the '03 to '06-07 trucks would be nil.

Cummins has an exclusive agreement for Dodge for trucks between whatever weight range.

I'll look some more, but someone posted about toyota wanting to build their own diesel for the tundra. Toyota wants to use toyota parts only. Makes sense to me. But this is talking about light duty diesels. Are our 2500's considered light duty? Like someone else said, if it was dodge they wouldn't remain anonymous.

The F650/750 are out of the weight range which DC has the exclusive agreement with Cummins. The range is something like 8500 lbs -> ????? lbs. I don't know exactly. This is why you see no Cummins in F250 F350 F450 F550 but it's ok in F650 and higher. Totally different market.
