What is it you are trying to compare the B Cummins is a good reliable engine but is quite a bit smaller. 3126 Cat is the upgrade to the 3116 with a better track record. You will not turn the Cat at 3000rpm but there is more bottom end. PK

I guess I am not really trying to compare. I just like to stay up on things and learn new things and about other engines as I am sure other members do to. just like learning that's all. thanks -Anthony

Re:Cummins ISB VS Cat 3126

The 3126 CATS are pretty good engines. 7.2 litre I believe. We have alot of them come into the shop in the FL60's and FL70's. With most of them having a bad injector, or a leaking air compressor at the gear housing. The bad injectors seem to be real bad on the 8Y serial numbered engines. One of the things that I like about the engine is almost every bolt is a 13mm. All in all it is a pretty good motor, good bottom end torque and seems to hold up well.

Re:Cummins ISB VS Cat 3126

i work in the same shop as okie and boy is he right we do see alot of kitty cats with injector probs the only probs ive seen with the isb is that darn 24v lift pump but it is alot easier and cheaper to diagnose and repair especially now that we are figuring out that you can repair the pump instead of replacing it most of the time but if i had to pick between the 3126 and the isb i would definitely pick the isc ;D aint that right okie?

so is the 3126 a pretty good performer? How do they both do in the FL 50, 60, and the 70? Thanks again for the info. So you both work for a diesel shop huh? I think being a diesel mech. would be a great job. Thanks again guys -Anthony

All in all it is a pretty good motor. I cant tell you how well they perform under a load as I have only driven the FL's that have come in, in need of repair.
