cummins ISB for toyota?

anyone put a cummins into a toyota tacoma? I'm thinking of putting a cummins ISB 185 hp diesel motor into my 1994 toyota, but was wondering what all I would need. Computer and box, new transmission/ transfer case?

Solid front axle, new suspension, stronger frame up front, engine mounting adapter, a good bit of dough. Sounds like a good idea to me, if you have the time and money to do it.

I'm guessing more than a little modification and fab work would be required to physically fit it into the engine compartment.

If it was me I'd use the 4cyl version (4bt). Only because it would be 100 times easier to fit and are capable of huge amounts of power. I believe it would take a complete new firewall just due to the length alone, before you even begin to address the other issues.

If you could find one the right size that would be a great option. They build some good engines.

try importing an inline six from a toyota hilux. i think that would be your simplest route.

4 cyl cummins in that size of truck, you can get plenty of power out of one.

Otherwise, get out the torch and buy lots of sawzall blades...

4-cylinder B3.9L is still around 850lbs. LOTS of weight for a toyota or any small or mid-size truck.

The toyota diesel motors were good, but MANY had lots of issues. Didn't like add-ons, cracked heads, cooling issues, etc...

A 4BT would be nice, but is physically too tall for a Toyota in stock form. 3.3 would fit, but significantly less power.

As previously mentioned a solid axle and a body lift would be required for fitment. I still plan on doing it anyways.

A 3.3 could probably clear 30mpg, though-- ,making it awful tempting.

TDIWyse is averaging 31 or so on winter fuel in a much less aerodynamic vehicle. The older toyota trucks (89+) were pretty well rounded in shape and could probably do a small amount better.
