cummins catalytic converter
i have a friend i just visited in Calif. who has a neighbor that lives Cummins (has three.) while we were discussing these Cummins we got into the catalytic converter thing and we came into a disagreement about weather or not all dodge Cummins were equipped with converters. He claims ALL ctd's are manufactered with converters. I am sure i have read many times on these forums that they did not have them ?
Whats the verdict here?

Resonator is straight through. 3" or 3.5" inlet (can't recall) and 4" outlet. Yank it off, and you will see that all it is, is an expansion chamber. It is to keep reonance that our little 6-cylinder makes alot of, out of the cab.

I always understood it to be:
1st gen's, no cat.
2nd gen 12 valve, yes cat
2nd gen 24 valve, no cat (early 98.5's might have had them)
3rd gen (2003/04) no cat.
3rd gen (2004.5 on up) yes cat.
This is all non California trucks, I thought all California trucks had them 2nd gen on up.
I've only owned one, a non California 2002 24 valve and it has no cat.
It does have a resonator which is not, repeat NOT a catylitic converter in any way shape of rorm.
As the resonator was invented when the cat's went away, California trucks might not have ever had them.
