i have a 97 fl60 and it is rated at 210 hp also.and i will agree on the allison.only reason i got it is my girlfriend didn't want to drive another stick, every vehicle i have is a stick.

Why are you guys down on the Allison?

I had one in my last truck and thought there were some quirks, but I'd like to hear why you all had some bad mojo with it

i won't say its bad mojo,i actually kinda like it but it just takes forever for it to shift into 4th.shifting into 2nd and 3rd aren't bad but that shift into fourth can sometimes take forever.

It's amazing what you can do when you have an endless supply of cold water.

I don't know about the Cummins, but a lot of marine engines use raw water (lake or sea water) to cool the exhaust manifold, turbo, charge air cooler, and engine. Usually, there is a water-coolant heat exchanger for the engine. They don't run raw water through the engine.

Yeah, you don't want raw seawater running through the waterjackets!

I know that, who wants a dead fish in the water pump. But you not relying on a fan cooled radiator which helps with the added HP.

You can have the shift points adjusted. A friend of mine and me made my 545 manual shift so when I put the shifter it 3rd it is in 3rd and when I put it in 4th it is in 4th. You can also change how hard it shifts into and out of each gear. I have it in a 92 Dodge 1st Gen 4x4.

On the Allison I just don't like the shift points, pattern, downshift that slams coming to a stop. It is screaming at 55mph on mine.
