covering your bed

What is the motor vehicle law for putting a tarp or not putting a tarp on your bed while its loaded with material(gravel, split wood, brush etc etc).

I hear guys get tickets for not having it covered but see and abundance of guys running around without them.

Anyone know what the real deal is?

thanks

you can get an unsecured load ticket. here in utah i think it's about $400. I keep a tarp and straps and plenty of rope at all times, just in case.

It's required up here if you are hauling loose debris to cover it.

I know out in California, the ONLY thing you can drop on the highway is water...and bird feathers. Everything else will warrant a ticket!

...the bird feathers law was created because the trailers hualing chickens and such are vented.
