Considering selling my truck and I have a few questions

I really do not want to get rid of my 03' but it just might happen. As far as my new purchase goes I cannot decide which is the best bet between the three (Dodge, Ford and Chevy/GMC). I know from being member for a few years here that everyone is pretty set on Dodge but I just want to know the pros and cons between them. Any input is appreciated.

Thanks.

If you dont want to get rid of it, why would you? Let us know what the truck is used for, and what the new one will do for you that the 03 wont.

03' needs some minor work and is lifted. I would like to get into a smoother riding and lower truck. (I think I am growing up ) As far as towing, I very seldom haul anything. It seems that these newer trucks have more features to offer that I know I could put to good use. I also want to purchase a truck with a good warranty.

If it were me, I would drop the lift kit and give it some Bilstien shocks.

I would avoid the newer emissions level trucks if you are able.

I'd get a 2009 Chevy or 2010 Dodge.

Do you have to have a 4wd truck? I've driven my brother's '03 2wd quite a few times, and she rides really smooth. Of course I'm used to a 1st Gen, so that might not mean much...

Sounds like you don't need a diesel. I would test drive a F-150, as you said you seldom haul anything. I would drive them all, and then decide.

The newer model Chevy 1500's are incredible trucks if you don't tow over 5k with one, and if you really don't put on all that many miles. With my friend's Z71 4wd with the 5.3L V8, he gets 21 mpg on the freeway, and it's more than capable of all he needs. I've driven it, and it's pretty tempting...except for that old thing known as a payment...

You talking new new, or new used truck?
Used, I'd go with a 06-07 5.9 Dodge or 06-07 LLY/LBZ GM for diesels. GM if I was getting an auto trans.
New, get a 6.7 Cummins (6sp auto and factory exhaust brake is sweet!), or a new GM LMM. Both are very good trucks IMO.
I wouldn't get a Ford 1/2 ton or diesel. Alot of our new(er) F150s are having catostrophic failures lately. 2 engines and 1 trans blown up in a fleet of about 15 trucks. All are 08 or 09 trucks with 15k-50k miles on them. Maybe the F150, 5.4L trucks don't like being worked hard in the mountains. (Oh wait they're not. They're all highway queens!)
New 1/2 tons, I'd go GM or Dodge, 50/50 preference.

Need the 4wd. I still go out to locations and get to have some fun. Also, I drive to MN every year and this Texan cannot drive in the snow without it.

Being that I do not drive as much as I use to that might be a possibility, however, I still want it to be a Diesel and haul if I need it to. I do run a few Hot Shots throughout the year just not on a regular basis.

I will definitely take all of that into consideration. Beginning to push towards the 2010 Dodge. Thanks for everyone's input. I will be working on my truck this week and after making a few minor repairs I will decide if I will be keeping it or not.
