CAT D350 dump truck. WHAT brake liquid?

hi y-all

does anybody own or know about the big 35 ton capacity CAT articulated dump trucks, OR ANY OTHER BIG CAT MACHINERY?
we own some CAT D35 year 84, and 93, bought them and used them for a while,

now the brakes go out, we filled it up with the same liquid stuff we fill into our dodges brakes system.

now we are in doubt what to fill it up with, cuz the rubber sealings seem not to resist that stuff.
DO THEY USE SOME KIND OFF NORMAL OIL??

CAT gear is hit and miss, from experience on loaders etc, most of them used brake fluid. However, a lot of heavy equipment braking systems use 0W30 engine oil for all-weather operation. Best to check either the manual, or check with CAT for proper spec.

D350 art. trucks take 30W transmission oil in the brake system. If you have dumped dot 3 or dot 4 brake fluid in the system, you have a problem. the brake fluid has probably deteriorated the seals and you will have brake problems until the entire system is tore down and resealed.

Sorry to bear bad news.

Is that true??????

That's it then! we figured out the bad news by ourselfes!
we messed the whole brake system up, with lilling it up with brake fluid!
we already replaced the sealings, but those sealings arent for brake fluid either. so they need 30W transmission oil?

my DAD asked lots of other equipment owners, nobody knows, others just drive without brakes... thats a sad story.

but i DO appreciate it that finally sum1 knows about this!

thanks DH!

There should be a chart or decal on the machine with a diagram showing all lube points with callouts in the form of numbers usually that refer to a list on the chart of recommended lubricants unless the decal was painted over.
The lube or fluid may have the Caterpillar name on it which you will have to cross over to whatever brand you are using but every Cat I ever ran had that list someplace.Look inside of the battery box door or maybe a toolbox compartment or tow pin storage bin,it will be there somewhere.Ron G

I'm sure a call to CAT would have confirmed what type of fluid to use. Dang costly mistake.
