To be honest I'm a big Chevy/GM fan. I have a Camaro that I am going to start some work on. I looked at Fords and Chevys when I started looking for a diesel, but none of them seemed to come anywhere close to a Cummins powered truck. After all the reading I did I just couldn't see myself buying something that would need to be in the shop alot, as I have NO time to be without the truck. True the Cummins have their problems, but when compared to the pages of problems GM and Ford have it's nothing. I think Dodge should have gotten the Allison tranny for the Cummins, then they would be unstoppable. Hope to see Ford and GM come out with even better stuff than they have now.

remember now reliablility is the whole ball of wax.
It's not only the engine, what about the body, tranny, front end, and chassis?
A reliable truck is one that scores high in all catagories.
I don't think we have one yet.

well, for my first post, I'm a D-MAx owner, now currently looking to trade mine in on a 2007, 6.7 with a quad cab or mega cab auto.
The dura max is a ok truck, at 1500 miles, I had 1 injector get stuck down the highway at 75 mph, coated the front cab of a semi with the largest cloud of blue smoke I've ever seen. Now my 2002 max has 40,000 miles, keep it in a heated commercial building, use plenty of fuel treatments, and been very lucky. I know I hear this and that between people and their brands, everything happens to people, the max is a good truck, but in my opinion will not last as long as a cummins, I have several friends that own them, beat the snot out of them, pull 5'ers all over the country, and none of them have ever been down on the road, not to say that some with cummins have ever not had problems, but this is the way I'm going, 6.7 cummins, mega or club cab long box. The cummins will soon be mine.....Glad to be here!

I keep reading about injector system problems with the D-Maxes and here's my question. If they have so many problems with injectors and pumps why don't the third gen dodges have that too. They both use the exact same components.

I worked at a gm dealer for about a year and a half. i think every duramax that came in with a problem all had there injectors replaced. to be honest i wasn't impressed with the trucks one bit. any gm truck for that matter being a gasser or a diesel.
one thing that deffinintly sucks about those trucks. wheel speed sensor. entire hub replaced. your looking anywere from 300-600 (CDN funds) to replace those. my ram. 65 bucks for the sensor 10 min to change./
