CA Vehicle License Fee Increase?
As all of us CA residents know, VLF's doubled May 2009. I found something interesting in the DMV FAQ's that may be of interest to you 3500/4500/5500 owners......

Scroll down and see what vehicles are exempt from the increase........
So are we commercial, therefore having to pay weight fees, but exempt from the increase? OR are we non-commercial and exempt from weight fees but get to pay the increase?
They charge me for both weight fees alone are $270 and the increase last year was well over $150.
Which is it? Either way, we are being overcharged!
I guess a phone call may be in order?

A VLF tax RATE increase from 0.65% to 1.15% is NOT a 0.5% increase in VLF taxes. For arguments sake, if you got a vehicle worth 100K your taxes go from 650 to 1150, sounds more like an 80% increase to me. Who is teaching math down there? Must be the same folks doing the spending and accounting, but I bet they feel good about whatever they are doing
