drive it to a shop and have them check ball joints and if they need replacing or not you can get a price....sounds like you can get them done elsewhere later for much less and save another 2grand off the sticker... That will give you over a grand to do a couple small mods...

ball joints are no problem.. i can take care of that myself. i turned the truck down though. the truck has a 5th wheel and there's a white stripe down the center of the bed to help the driver line the truck up under a gooseneck. oviously the truck has been towed with alot. i know a guy at a dealership here. told him wut i'm looking for and he said when it gets traded in, he'd give me a call. shouldn't take too long. thanks for all the help

Like I mentioned in my previous post.........I would not turn down a truck due to it having towed alot. Since the cummins is a work horse, the engine could actually be in better mechanical condition due to having been worked hard. Working the cummins hard is supposed to keep the injectors clean. I would think that one that hasn't been worked hard could be more susceptible to cylinder glazing, but I wouldn't be afraid to buy either one. Mine had been worked fairly hard all it's life.........the previous owner owned a feed store, and hauled heavy loads of feed pretty regular. Mine had 95K on it when I got it, and just over 150K now and runs perfect. Good luck with whatever you find.
