Looks like a ripoff to me. He claims the retail price for the filter is $115. You can buy the exact same filter from Fleetfilter.com for $29 plus shipping.

He also claims that it flows 5 times more air than the stock filter, which we all know to be false.

In fact, let's just pick this whole auction apart just for fun:

There is a noticeable power difference!
That's debatable. I didn't really notice much difference.

List Price of the Air filter is over $115 part #42790 feel free to call around
Bull puckey.

Over $175 worth of filters...
Maybe on this auction, but not in the real world.

Shipping is $29 to 48 states.

Buyer Beware!!

I saw this the other day, the sad part is he'll sell them.

www.fleetfilter.com

EDIT I just looked at his feedback, whew! I guess we're the idiots? Guy is making a killing! There was a sale @ $65.00 + $25 ship, nice profit!
I'd like a 120% margin!

I sent him a message linking him to this thread. He wrote me back an e-mail. Seems like a nice enough guy. I guess if people don't care enough to shop around and want to pay more for a product then that's their prerogative.

P.J. is right though...he's a lot smarter than we are. He's making money!!

ebay

Thanks for the defense Hoss. PJ the filters cost about $57.xx shipped to the US, then I have listing fees, ebay fees, and paypal fees, and the time to order it. I am not quitting my day job to make $10 on average 1 or 2 times a week. I have lost out on some of the auctions, occasionally I get hit by a fruadulent guy who does a chargeback.

I searched loaclly for a BHAF and best I could find was $47 and that was a special order. So I kept looking. The place I found has outrageous "LIST" prices, I did not come up with those.

Anyways, I love my Dodge 2001 and would rather sell a few filters and give someone else a decent deal, than have them get taken at their local NAPA, Autozone or Kragen/Schucks/Checkers. I use ithe proceeds for mod money. After 2.5 months I am getting close to paying for the Big fuel line kit from Vulcan.

Cool Who pays list?

I don't pay list and if the NAPA that you go to tries to sell you the BHAF @ list go somewhere else. Just say no, i am not going to pay list, and they will usally deal with you.
$115 list @ NAPA i paid $45 still a little high but. i had at the time put way too many miles on the truck trying to find someone with one in stock.

Buyer Beware!!

I dynoed at 189.7 hp with the stock air filter. I dynoed 190.2 without any air filter. 1/2 hp doesn't translate to a kick in the pants to me.

Now that you've already joined DTR, stick around a while.

Yeah, welcome to the family. And skip the Vulcan kit, get a concrete bedliner... It will fix all your problems, and add 10% more mower, along with a better ride.

thanks for the welcomes. I just got my truck 6 months ago, 2001, 130k, 6spd, got the edge comp, had a vanAaken that I really liked. I am looking forward to more BOMBs, researching it is most fun.

I am surprised how different the opinions of DTR and TDR (which I am also a member of ) members regarding BOMBs.

I have to say at first im thinking wow bahfs are supposed to be economical. however there is something to be said for a one stop shop and he is doing the running around. i didnt get to see a link but really its just marketing to use list prices. Really any good consumer is an informed consumer so buyer beware.
