5 pages and no one mentioned this one: Alan Jackson, "Where I come from"
Its not the best, but its a good one.

But here is mine in order
Convoy
Eastbound and Down
Roll On Eighteen Wheeler, roll on
Six Days on the Road
Where I Come From
I've Been Everywhere Man

What about 21 Days on the Road? Or Jack Ingram's "Driving all Night Long".

I'm not gonna read all the posts but how about the "Smokey and the Bandit" theme song. "East bound and down" I think is the name .

LeeAnn Womack has that song on one of her early records..if it's the same song...maybe '96 or '97...

Rodney Carrington
"Pickup Truck"

im gettin married to my pickup truck
it doesn't leave me when im down on my luck
it doesn't shop at fancy stores or have a lawyer
or want a divorce
it doesn't care if I stay out late
it doesn't ***** about the money i make
we'll be together till the end
it won't sleep with my best friend
im gonna get down on one knee
and ask my truck if it'll marry me
i'll never drive another car
we'll honeymoon at the titty bar
we're gonna have the time of our life
the exhaust pipes are tighter than my Ex-wife
you think im crazy, but listen to this
i can bring home a hooker and it won't get ****** no
wedding ring won't cost me a buck
when I get married to my pickup

I can't belive that nobody posted thid one, I thought of it right away . . .

Highway Junkie Lyrics

Gary Allan:

A hundred cups of coffee,
Five hundred cigarettes
A thousand miles of highway
And I ain't forgot her yet
But I keep on movin',
I keep movin' down the line

There ain't nothin' in my mirror
Just a cloud of dust and smoke
What do you expect
When some ole trucker's heart gets broke
Yeah, a trucker's heart gets broke

But them big wheels of rubber
Gonna rub her off my mind
Well I'm a highway junkie
And I need that old white line

Ten miles outta' Nashville
I was doin' a hundred and one
State boy pulled me over
He said "Where's the fire son?"
Said "Where's the fire son?"

I said man there ain't no fire
I'm just runnin' from a flame
So go on an write your ticket, man,
But I aint the one to blame
That county judge tried to rob me blind

But them big wheels of rubber
Gonna rub her off my mind
Well I'm a highway junkie
And I need that old white line

--- Instrumental ---

So I rolled on down to Memphis,
I had nothin' left to loose
Wanted to hear some rock n' roll
But all they played was blues
I didn't wanna hear no blues

So I went to call up Elvis
But Roger Miller grabbed the phone
He said drive that eighteen wheeler boy
You're the king of the road
Said I was the king of the road

But them big wheels of rubber
Gonna rub her off my mind
Well I'm a highway junkie
And I need that old white line

I said I'm a highway junkie, man,
And I need that old white line...

All you posted some pretty good ones . . .

Take care
Phill

If you have Sirius Satellite radio, check out my friend Rig Rocker's show on channel 147, weekdays from 2 to 3 PM EST. He plays just about every truck driving song there is, and he used to run a record label called Diesel Only. If there is a truck driving song out there, he knows it.
Now for my own vote: Just about the best truck driving song there is, even though Linda Ronstadt did a version of it- "Willin'" written by the late great Lowell George from the band Little Feat.

"I've been from Tuscon to Tucumcari
Tehachapi to Tonapah
Driven every kind of rig that's ever been made
Driven the back roads so I wouldn't get weighed
And if you give me: weed, whites, and wine
and you show me a sign
I'll be willin', to be movin' "

He also wrote another one of my favs, "Six feet of Snow" which contains the following line-
"If it wasnt for the lines that wind
Side by side
I'd be lyin' next to her
next to her tonight"

Rush has this one really cool song about Diesels and bioDiesel...

Our first stop is in Bogota
To check Columbian fields
The natives smile and pass along
A sample of their yield
Sweet Jamaican pipe dreams
Golden Acapulco nights
Then Morocco, and the east,
Fly by morning light

Were on the train to Bangkok
Aboard the Thailand express
Well hit the stops along the way
We only stop for the best

Wreathed in smoke in Lebanon
We burn the midnight oil
The fragrance of Afghanistan
Rewards a long days toil pulling into Katmandu
Smoke rings fill the air
Perfumed by a Nepal night
The express gets you there

Yup... I think it's about bioDiesel...

Speaking of trucker songs, I noticed in the paper that Del Reeves died over the holidays.

"Detroit Diesel" by Alvin Lee

"Detroit Diesel"

Late at night I was driving home
Feeling tired I was all alone
I pulled in at the first truck stop motel
There she stood like a dream in the night
Hair was long and her dress was tight
Just one smile and I knew I was under her spell

You got me running like a Detroit Diesel
Got me humming like a Detroit Diesel
Hear me coming like a Detroit Diesel
Like I'm in overdrive

She took my hand checked me in for the night
She said "Honey don't you put up a fight.
I want some loving and to you it's all for free."
She got me blowing like a hurricane
So much good loving driving me insane
Can't believe that you really happened to me.

You got me running like a Detroit Diesel
Got me humming like a Detroit Diesel
Hear me coming like a Detroit Diesel
Like I'm in overdrive

You turn me on like an electric light
You burn me up like a missle sight
You got me running like a turbo nine forty-four
You move my soul like an original sin
You detonate me like a firing pin
When I leave you'll be coming back for more

You got me running like a Detroit Diesel
Got me humming like a Detroit Diesel
Hear me coming like a Detroit Diesel
Like I'm in overdrive
"Devil's Screaming"
1978 Warner Brothers Music Corp.

The soul is crying, to be set free
There's someone calling, inside of me
The devil's screaming, and I won't let him have his way
Oh, no, no, no

The soul is searchin', to find the key
There's so much confusion, inside of me
The devil is screaming, and I won't let him have his way
Have his way - oh, no, no, no - no, no

The life we're living, was half of gold
There's good and evil, down in my soul
The devil's screaming, and I won't let him have his way
No, let him have his way - yeah
Let the soul carry on - yeah, yeah
