It's not necessary to have the tank completly empty to change it over to D/O. Most tanks will pump down to 350 gals. before it quits pumping. Put a full load of D/O in & it's good to go. Over the years I've mixed product once I think every driver has done it. We then have to pump the tank out if it is over a certain % then blend it out in a bigger storage tank until the % is at an acceptable leval.

 

Chevron says 1% or less gasoline mixed with diesel is no problem.

 

So we could mix less than 1% gas in our tanks right? That'd be .3 gal on a full tank. Wounder if i'd get the same milage with that.

 

TankerYanker - Those Big Cams were the beasts !!! I sure miss them !! I drive concrete trucks and all we have are Cummins ,the M-11 's and other engines are great but not beasts like that Big Cam was !! Had an older truck with a big cam that would outpull all of our newer computer controlled trucks .

 

Hehehe , you cant blame Cummins for that , all the mixers around here are getting the ISL engines , you want to hear complaints.... LOL they wish they had the M11 or ISM now.... these company want mileage now more then ever.

 

Another big reason MB is sellin a lotta engines over here, As of now they dont have to meet hte epa regs like the other companies do.

 

Not quite. It doesn't matter if an engine is made overseas it still has to meet EPA regs to be imported.
Most the MB diesels you see here are made by the old Detroit Diesel company right in the US anyway.

 

Correct, the new 906 and 4000 all are EGR due to EPA regs.

 

Ya we have fuel leak problems as well. We also have two new egr engines as well. they have been good so far. they came with coolant heaters which work realy well.

We've got the MB OM906 LA's and Allison NEWWORLD 6 speed autos in our F/liner FL80's. We haven't had any problems at all with the engines or trannies but the wiring of the cabs are attrocious. Nothing but problems. Wipers not working, electronic dashes constantly screwing up, headlight and fan problems.
These things are an electrical nightmare. TOTAL JUNK!
These don't have the same pulling power and get up as the 3406cat in our other FL80's but drivetrain seems to be better and easier and cheaper to maintain.

 

Yep anything Cat is high$. The MBE 4000 would run with the smaller rated 3406. The MBE 4000 has the highest engine braking power with there turbo brake.
