I stopped subscribing to TDR years ago and have no clue what my DTR password is, but I’m back in the game.

I bought a new ‘99 5spd dually and at ~200k mi sold it and ordered a ‘03 6spd dually that I still have with 630k mi. Both trucks had a substantial number of towing miles, most actually. Not huge loads, but ~15k# or so.

Now I’m back in the market but have lost track of issues with certain years so I’m hoping to get a consensus.

This go around I’m looking at an automatic since they aren’t rebuilt 727’s anymore and ....... yep I’m getting older and lazier. Still towing fairly regularly as well.

So what is a good year to look for with no pitfalls? I don’t think I want a new one this time, but I’m not opposed.
