ATF P/S fluid types

As a general question I want to r+r my steering fluid and flush my trans, its a 93 with the 518. The manual says use only Dodge approved PS fluid, the trans stick and manual say use Dodge only approved trans fluid or Dextron type 3 or 2 if nothing else is avaliable???. Most Dex 3 types say they replace some Dex 2type E, What is the E desiginate? Castrol Dex 3, says it covers 3,2, 2-E etc? Anyone shed any light on the subject?
Thank You.

Re: ATF P/S fluid types

My vote would be for Amsoil Universal ATF. It meets all of the new requirements as well as the specs for the "older" fluid. I'm just not sure about the PS. I was ready to change mine with the same Amsoil ATF and then someone told me to stick to "power steering fluid" instead of using ATF. I know there is a member on here that works for Amsoil, maybe he can shed some light on whether the Universal ATF can be used as a power steering fluid.

This is from www.amsoil.com
http://www.amsoil.com/products/atf.html

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
AMSOIL Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid exceeds the performance requirements for domestic and foreign automatic transmission fluid applications. AMSOIL ATF provides automatic transmissions, power steering units and hydraulic equipment with excellent lubricating protection and better performance over a wider temperature range than do conventional petroleum fluids.
