Re:Anyone switch from PSD to Cummins
My brother running on those 36x12.50x16.5 Military tires that are now running on 40" Trxus...Has never had problems execpt for his tranny going out. Only because he ran a 130hp chip with out a Aftermarket TC. But thats it. Its a 01 PSD F350
Re:Anyone switch from PSD to Cummins
True maybe rumor but I was talking to a body shop about the new f350 ford and he said he got a bulletin from ford saying that the frame on the fords contain magnessium and are very flamable to be careful and to never weld with a frame etc... on the frame as it might catch on fire and can't be put out with water. needs a special chemical to be put out...
anyone heard about this??
anyone heard about this??

Dump the Ferd. Take full advantage of the current rebates. If you do your homework, before going to the dealer, you can comfortably get 9 to $10K off the MSRP on an 03 this month.
I just did!!!
I just did!!!
Re:Anyone switch from PSD to Cummins
I used to drive a 99 PSD for the jerk I worked for before opening my own business. At highway speeds the motor turned to many rpm's, it didn't have 4:10 rearend, the tranny was hard to shift, after putting 3 clutches in it, and the 3rd one failed 250 miles from home (can't say I didn't grind a few of the teeth off shifting), but I drove it home, came into driveway, stood on the brakes, cut the switch. The ford trannys SUCK, and the International engines turn too many r's to live very long past a gasser. I drove his f350 with the 4:10 rears and it was turning WAY high 3000's @ 70 mph and pedal was to the floor. I like my DC at 1800 rpm @ 70 mph better and only about 1/4 to 1/3 thottle. But only MIOP, and everybody knows what they are like
Re:Anyone switch from PSD to Cummins
I have a 2000 F-250 Powerstroke for a work truck and I have a 98.5 1 ton Dodge. I think they are both good trucks. I wouldn't hesitate to buy a 7.3 if they still made them. I have over 130,000 miles on the Powerstroke and it has been an excellent engine/truck. The only engine work other than oil and filters was a cam position sensor at about 20,000 miles covered under warranty. Finally had the front ball joints done at 100,000 miles. Still have the original front brakes! Had the rear brakes changed only because the calipers seized because of the mud and crap packed in there. I use the truck in the oil patch and run it pretty hard, no problems. I like my Cummins, it only has 90,000 miles on it, so far changed lift pump, injection pump, ball joint, trac bar etc. If I could get a Cummins in a Ford 1 ton I would be first in line though. I like the Cummins engine better, diesels in trucks should be inline sixes. If I had to buy tomorrow I think the Dodge would get the nod, just to get the Cummins.
Re:Anyone switch from PSD to Cummins
I am glad that I have my CTD! After driving my truck with just the EZ, I took a road trip w/ my folks in their F350 CC SuperDuty. I couldn't believe how gutless it was. It felt almost as bad as a Triton V-10! At least it got good mpg-- about 20. The cab was very spacious, but not particularly comfortable. The seats were large but really uncomfortable. The HVAC was lame-- my Dodge heats and cools the cab MUCH better.
But my Stepdad is a OTR trucker and a die-hard Ford redneck, so what's a guy to do?? For their use, the PSD is fine.
I could never drive one at this cost level. IF I am spending 30K+ on a truck, it BETTER be exactly what I want.
