I'd like to get a junkyard one and strip it for bombing.

Heads? Or you mean strip it of all the emissions equipment and use it?

I want one. In a 3500 Mega SRW 4x4. My grandpa always said put crap in one hand, wishes in another, see what fills up first. I want to drive one, as soon as they get here, I'll be in one.

Yeah, PJ - take off all the undesirable parts and wring out the extra cubes.

Personally, I cant wait. The 5.9 has had a great run, and has left the industry speechless, and the enthusiasts hardcore loyal forever. However, I do believe that there is much to be said for research and advancements. Im not sure if any other engine in history has lived as long as the 5.9 but just think....nobody thought an 'old' inline 6 would have been any good the year before it released either. I just think that the technology and advancements will be worth the headaches of the emissions crap. And with the ingenuity of our community....wont be long before the bombs are figured out-then hold on, shes gonna be one heck of a wild ride! Still dont want the first one though!

I'll keep my 05... We have a couple of new F750's with a 5.9, EGR and variable vane turbo... One lasted 3 weeks and stopped.. the other one lasted 3 months and stopped...

I know these are not 6.7's but they have the same emissions (less the particulate filter) as the 6.7's have and are having problems..

Maybe in a few years I would consider it.. Look at Ford and the 6.0.. do you want to be a guinnie pig.. I don't.

Yeah, I'll want one in a couple years once all the bugs are worked out...I don't suspect it will be much different than the release of the 6.0 or the LB7

No...I dont want the first one, but even the 5.9 has gone through some significant changes over the years, and cummins got it right most of the time. All I am saying is that I am confident that long run it will be a good one, and someday we will not even remeber NOT wanting one....(I Hope)!

I saw my first one today at an auto show and I thought it was awsome! It was a single cab with a 12' flat bed with a 6 speed. I was very impressed with the mortor. I will miss the 5.9 but I will give the 6.7 a chance.

Remember how excited the Ford guys were when the 6.0 came out.
I hope this is not the case but I bought an 06 a little sooner then I would have because I was nervous about the 6.7. It is a Cummins, it will probably be great.

I don't think it's anything to look forward to . Higher original cost and more costly servicing due to the particulate filter and additional new parts will be the downside . Expect lower fuel mileage as well . Cat , Detroit Diesel , and Cummins are all having problems with the new systems . Major trucking companies are buying up all the '06's they can and truck manufacturers are already announcing layoffs due to lack of orders for '07's . The priority in engine design was to meet emissions . Power and fuel economy were not a priority .

Looking forward to the 6-speed auto that you can get with it.

The transmission will be sweet.

The EGR system will suck completely. Can't make boost when the EGR is open... have to wait for it to close, THEN the VVT starts moving the vanes. What this translates to in practical terms:

**floor it**

one one-thousand, two-

**it goes**
