Anyone have stacks in New Jersey?

Its getting close to May and hopefully my graduation present to myself (CTD) will be coming soon too. I want stacks in the worst way but with the way emissions laws are in this state I don't know if I should even try it. I've seen a Furd Powerjoke F-350 on the road with stacks once, don't know if it was actually from Jersey though. Passenger diesels don't get sniffed here, but I can just see the inspection drones getting all hot and bothered just looking at a set of 5" chrome pipes sticking out of the bed and citing me for an illegal exhaust mod or something. I guess I could go to private inspection and find someone that's cool about it, but there's still the possibility of being pulled over for them.

I know its illegal but I want to know if anyone around here has stacks and if so do you get hassled as a result. I actually live right down the street from Auto Wurks Diesel here in Caldwell. I suppose I could stop by and ask them.

Mine passed NJ inspection with them. When I put them on I managed to put them in just far enough so you can't get burnt too easily.
Even though its considered self-inspection with registration at 12,000 lbs. in NJ, I still get the silly little sticker so those nice police officers leave me alone.
This F350 your saw wouldn't happen be a white crew cab would it?

I'm from out near the Delaware Water Gap and there are quite a few trucks out my way that are running stacks.

ha don't be surprised at what they are gonna charge you , that shop has to be the most expensive place for anything, I think they have a rate to breath in their office. Nice guys if you have the cash, I am just over the hill from them and can't stop in anymore on accont of their prices. I would rather buy here at the dtr shop.

Yeah I've heard that Auto Wurks can be pretty pricey, seems appropriate for North Jersey where EVERYTHING is too **** expensive. I'm from South Jersey (Piney Power!!!) and I'm not a big fan of the Essex County area. I've seen a lot of nice trucks outside of there though. Anyway, that F350 was black, so I dunno. JD, just out of curiosity what do you mean by "self inspection?" And by the way I love it out your way, Sussex County is definitely stack country and bet you don't get any dirty looks either...

There's a provision in the motor vehicle laws that says vehicles registered over 10,001 lbs. do not require an inspection sticker.

I have the paper work in all of our trucks in case we get stopped and given a hard time about it. http://www.state.nj.us/mvc/cleanair/..._schedule.html

I still get the dirty looks, unfortunatly. My dad intentially smoked out a female student from the school he works at one morning for tailgating him. That'll get some dirty looks for sure.
