Any knowledge of 84 Ford escort diesel?
Any knowledge of 84 Ford escort diesel?
I know it is a Mazda L4 2.0 litre with a bosch fuel system. I bought one today with the intent of pulling the engine to replace a 2 cyl Wisconsin in my boom lift. I thing I am going to need a wiring diagram to get all the acessory donor parts, like what does the wire on the fuel filter do? what determines glow cycle time? What cycles the electric fan on the radiator?
I know I have a long road ahead of me to make this fit, but a wiring diagram is the only thing I can see that I need now to start. Hooking the hydraulic pump to the thing should not be that hard to machine parts for. I may need to be creative on the motor mounts.
Thanks for any info!
In case you were wondering..... The rest of the car is barely held together with the rust. I thought the previous owner was going to split the car in half when it bottomed out as it broke over the top of the ramps of my trailer.

i know there is a guy over on the tdiclub site that was just posting about his escort diesel.might look over there.also i would think maybe the wire into the filter housing might be some sort of "water in fuel"light.and as for glow time why not just set it up for a manual glow time with a push button.if you had an old caterpillar with a pony motor and a rope for a starter you would appreciate anything to help warm up the engine.
Sorry I cant help with anything you need but I had an 84 Lynx with the diesel in it abought 8 years ago. The car had 480,000 miles on it when it died. It looked like it to. I bought it from a shop I worked for in high school. They had used it for a run abought and to deliver lawnmowers and snow blowers for the Snapper dealership end of the shop. They parked it a while after I left and a few years latter I needed a cheap work car so I could leave my good truck sit in the garage so I bought it off them. The car would get around 60 MPG but would also burn a couple courts of oil every couple hundred miles. I would do as mentioned above and wire the glow plugs to a manual push button style swich and go from there. As for the wire on the fuel filter I would think that should be the watter in fuel lite.
