General Diesel Discussion Talk about general diesel engines (theory, etc.) If it's about diesel, and it doesn't fit anywhere else, then put it right in here.

Anti sieze or not, that is the question?

Nope, I never do because I don't want them moving around or even thinking about it.

Only time I use anti-seize is when two dissimilar metals will be in contact (example, a stainless steel bolt going into an aluminum bracket), or when specifically called for in the installation instructions.

We only use anti-seize on threads and and anything with a loose fit that has to come apart or move.

On press fits like ball joints and u-joints we usually hit them with some light oil to help them go together easier. Anti-seize is a waste here because the press fit wipes it off.
