General Diesel Discussion Talk about general diesel engines (theory, etc.) If it's about diesel, and it doesn't fit anywhere else, then put it right in here.

Another good Story.

So i have been trying to convence my boos to trade in his 04 Dodge 1500 for a 2500 or 3500 CTD. He always said that he could pull anything with the truck he has now. Well he finally realized what I was talking about with the CTD.
One morning around 5 am I was orking and got a call from him. He said that he needed my to drop what ever i was doing to caome out and help him as fast as i can. Now I knew that this was an emergencey because he would never take me away from the morning job unless something realy bad was happening. We I drove our John Deere Gator as fast as it would go back to his house. When I got there it was a sight to be seen. Later that day he wanted to do some work with his Case skid steer and trailored it to park to his other house. He decided that he could "pull anything with his truck" and hooked up his 30' dove tail with the skid steer on the back. Now the trailer it self weighs 10k with the 6x12 we put on it and the skid steer weighs another 10k and the new solid rubber tires weigh another 1k lbs a peice> So he is pulling around 25klbs. with a half ton truck. Well I got to the house and he had atempted to drive the truck up his inclined gravel driveway and only made it about half way up and started to roll backwards. By the time I had gotten there he was half way through the neighbors garage and double footing the breaks to keep him from going farther. I jumped onto the skid steere and put the ramps on the sie and had to drive it off the side. After hat he tried again to go up the hill and just lost front end traction from the truck squating and rolled back again. Well we hooked up the skid steer and pulled him out as much as we could. All I had to say to him is A CTD would have pulled that trailer with no problem up the hill and anywhere he wanted.

So kow he is a the new owner of a 05 CTD and can pull anything he can put on the trailer.

I would think you would get a nice Christmas bonus for never speaking of this ever again!

That's a good one...

I know a guy that has an early 90's Ford Ranger... He thinks that he can pull anything with it, cause he swapped in a 302 and running gear from a Bronco II...

I had a S-10 with a 350 in it and the engine could pull quite a bit, but I don't think the rest of the truck would do very well. I never towed with it at all, but it was a fun play toy.

My concern is not what he can move, but stopping it. The swap would have been sweet for a toy, but he thought it was a tow rig on par with mine.
