Again- FORD DOES NOT OWN VOLVO- only the CARS.
2 Different things? I guess you have never heard of a D12.
No misinformation from what I've read in this thread, except it went off on a tangent regarding Volvo marine engines.

I don't think anyone ever said anything about Ford owning Volvo trucks, only cars. The Volvo company got started thru White Motors, whose namesake I knew very well back in the 60's. The D12 is a bit heavy to use on a SuperDuty, doncha think?

Actually, the other way around. Volvo bought the White truck group. Volvo, a Swedish company, has been around since 1927 - see HERE.

Technically you are correct, but White Motors was around LONG before Volvo.
http://www.wrhs.org/crawford/template.asp?id=374

1981 - A.B. Volvo purchased some assets of White Motor Corp. to form Volvo White Truck Corp., based in Greensboro, NC. Volvo White sold vehicles under the Volvo, White and Autocar nameplates.

1988 - Volvo GM Heavy Truck Corp. was formed as a joint venture between Volvo and General Motors Corp. Volvo GM's nameplates were WHITEGMC and Autocar. The WHITEGMC nameplate was discontinued in 1995 and Volvo GM's trucks were sold under the Volvo and Autocar nameplates.

Also White was instrumental in getting Consolidated Freightways in Oregon to use their engines. Various pieces of White have been sold to companies other than Volvo.

Ummm....yes, I'm aware of that. We purchased the Superior engine and compressor division of White Motor Company in the late 1970s.

Now, back to your regular programming....

D12 too heavy? Then I guess a D16 is out of the question eh?

Rusty- you could even add that Volvo formed from "Penta". As history goes, five (penta) guys started the engine business in 1907, and it spun off 20 years later as Volvo.
Talked to someone at VP that just got their "100 year" wristwatch.

Showed a friend w/ a Duramax the Roman Candle video today...got a real good laugh out of it-

cheers--

NH makes some of their own engines , but they buy quite a few too , they used the 4.3 and 6.7 in some tractors , they use some EEA (european engine alliance - IVECO) engines , and they use some old engines rebranded with the CNH name , engines such as the 466 , and it's little brother (414? IIRC)
