Air Bags?

Alright please excuse me i may be in the wrong forum and this may be kind of a dumb question but could some one explain air bags to me and what they would help a rig with?

My guess is added towing waight ability and also smoother ride but thats my guess.

Im asken because im looking at a truck with them.

thank you

Airbags add weight capacity to a truck's suspension - they effectively increase the spring rate. Unlike leaf-spring overloads, they are easy to adjust so that the truck rides at your desired ride height when driving empty or loaded.

Ok thank you thats what i kind have had thought now another couple of questions. Firestone dual guage airbags by that can anyone tell me what kind of quality these are? Additionally what kind of fuel milage and rpms would i be turning with a 01 2500ho with a 6speed and 3:71. rpms say at 65?

I think i already have said this but im looken at a truck, i love the cummins engine however never really dealt with them in new dodges mostly ive dealt with them in conversion jobs and machinery.

Once again thank you

The Firestones are quality items, and based on the limited truck info - you could expect 15 -20 mpg.

Just so you know, there are no 3.71 gears - only 3.73 but only 3.54 and 4.10 gears were OEM equipment for 2nd gen CTD's....so, either your gear info is incorrect or someone has swapped in 3.73's.....as to the rpm at 65 mph, you would need to know the tire size and be certain of the gear ratio to accurately calculate that.

I am 100% certain of the 2 gearing options for a 2nd gen CTD....and I'm not offended that you are trying to be sure of the information you are being told.

You are not causing any problems!

Assuming 245/75 tires (we need to know the actual tire size), you should expect around 1900 - 2000 rpm at 65 mph with the 6 speed and 3.54 gears.

The gearing ratio will be in the glove box or on the side of the door.

I agree with Ph4tty, quite likely that the salesman has no clue what he is talking about. And your tires are about 31.75 inches tall
