Yesterday when I filled the beast I added my 1st quart of 2 stroke oil. I'm using the Shell Nautilus 2 stroke, No Ash, TCW-3. So far here is what I've noticed:
-EGTs seem to be about 50 degrees cooler
-Truck idle's smoother, less rattle
-Truck doesn't seem to labor as much while pulling a hill, grade.
-Maybe a little more smoke
-And I've got 165 miles on 1/4 tank of fuel, city and highway driving.
So far so good. I'll keep everyone posted.

I got a killer deal on the stuff, $6.00 a case or $.50 a quart. The oil company I got the stuff from was no longer going to carry the quart size, only the pint size.
I started running it in mine about a month ago . I didnt notice much egt difference but engine runs smoother less rattle doesnt smoke more or less .But i noticed a few more miles between fill ups. I live in north Tx so we have the low sulfer fuel and i noticed my truck getting louder and louder (rattles that is) after the two stroke its less. I would check the synthetic stuff to see how well it mixes before using it.Im not saying it wont but check. I run it in my raceboat and some of the synthetic stuff dont mix well with some fuels. like alcohol or methenol not sure what it will do in diesel?

I have never bought 2-cycle oil in anything bigger than a one-bottle/gallon size.
What mix ratio is it, i.e.50:1, 32:1, etc.??
Also, you added one bottle/fill-up; how many gallons is your tank??

i will pick some up tongiht and try that...is this a replacement or alternative to an additive like power service?
and what ratio should i use...a whole quart per tank seems like alot but then 35 gallons:1 quart isnt a high ratio (140:1)

Fuel tank is 34 gallons.

And most synthetic TCW-3 oils are smokeless. There is no reason whatsoever why a synthetic based 2-cycle oil would not burn cleanly.

You should be alright if there are no additives in it. The synthetics, along with gear oil and ATF, are a no no when burning waste oil due to high additive packages. I get the same effects in my 12 valve as you report although I run a much higher mixture with WO. 1-4 gallons depending how much I have on hand. You shouldnt really notice it smelling to you get over 5% and that is when the motor is cold. The odor and haze from high mixtures will go away with more boost. Keep us up to date if you run it long term in your truck. I am interested in your findings, especially if you go to a richer mixture. I am leary of the effect of ULSD fuel that is coming into full swing on the market and injector pump life.
I just started using this as an additive and with the ultra low fuel due out I will be adding a quart at every fuel stop for lubricity along with a pint of MMO. Even if it doesn't pay for itself in mpg improvements it will more than make up for it in increased wear resistance.
