Have a 98 international 4900 dt466e. Driving us insane. Runs great under power. Slow down or stop at a light then take off and it spits and sputters. No codes. All fuel line o rings replaced. Fuel lines tested. Pulled fuel filter housing and pressure checked. New cam sensor. Starts first crank after sitting for a week. Not losing prime. Just acts like sucking air when coming off power. No oil in the fuel. No fuel in the oil. HELP what has everyone missed? About to sell.

 

Can you rev it in neutral before taking off from the stop? does this change the behavior?

 

It only does it under a load. Doesn't do it without a trailer on. We use it to pull our cattle trailer.

 

Well, my question was- if you rev it before trying to apply load in the scenario where you have problems- does it change or not.

Had some problems where an engine would not work correctly after idling, but would work after revving it and then applying the load.
