the dealer sent me a notice that i am due for my 96,000 mile service. i am curious as to what that is, as 96,000 is an odd number as oppossed to 100,000.
anybody know what this service includes?

Probably involves you bent over with no lube

Other then mabye a tranny and radiator service there's nothing to do other then look over it real good, nothing another shop can't do for probably alot less.

Being you bought the truck used and have no service history, it's pretty much up to you to determine what is needed. How long have you owned it, what have you done/had done? List some of those things here and we can point out things that can be looked at. Luckily when I bought mine used the guy who had it bought it and had it serviced where I work. If I had no history to go by, I generally hit hard and do everything that is required up to that mileage. On the dodge list the big services on that year are actually 30-60-90K.


Here's what the good book calls for at 90k....
90000 MI or 144000 KM

Band, A/T Notes

Drum Brake System Notes
Adjust rear brakes.


Clean
Crankcase Filter Notes
Service (drain) the crankcase breather bottle.


Inspect
Brake Hose/Line Notes

Check engine coolant level, hoses, and clamps.

Drive Belt Notes
Replace as necessary.

Exhaust System Notes

That's the dealers way of getting you into his service shop. Since I have had my '03, the dealer as sent me a 14000 mile, 43000 mile, 49000 mile, and 52000 mile, and 57000 mile service reminder. Ain't no such thing. Their service reminders are as technically proficient as most of their service
