Well I was pointed to this thread to shed some light on the 700 HP @ 43 lns boost..... There must have been some confusion between myself and Bryan. We made over 600 @ 43 lbs with a single charger but not 700. I haven't known anyone to get a true 700 HP reading on a VP truck without drugs.

The only 700hp VP truck I know of, is Nathan Wright (IdahoCTD). I believe he's made 700.1 () on a VP with #2 only. How he did it, I have no idea

Doug,
Do you know Nathan? If you do, am I correct?

Up until the last year or so, there were only a handful of 600+hp VP trucks...now there are more all the time, but 650+ is pretty much an elite club, especially on #2! How this guy could "sneak" in there without someone knowing is what makes it seem fishy to me

IMHO,
Chris

I know Nathan well...... And the 700 run he made had a little help, it wasn't only #2.

Figured as much...but everything I had ever heard was that it was #2!

What's the best you've done on #2 Doug? Still single charger I assume?

first off thats not storx's truck, storx has a 4x4, and that guy is a con artist in his own mind...looks to me like he built the truck with the parts listed but only uses a butt dyno to get his numbers

My best single turbo # is 613 RWHP on #2. Best #2 on twins was 678.... Nathans run was supposed to be #2 only, he had done his nitrous runs and turned the bottle off. But there is still nitrous in the lines and he had some help with the nitrous pressurized in the lines.

I thought you were over 600 with a single...Didn't know you went to twins!

How much help could the nitrous in the lines have given him...I wouldn't think very much, but I've never played with nitrous...yet

Gb, I am pretty sure that is storx's truck. I remeber that wierd looking wrap on the stacks. But alas all of his pics threads are dead links.

I had twins on a different truck...... At over 1000 psi pressure lines can hold a nice dose of gas. In this case enough for 50+ HP.

Back in Muncie 04,there were more than a few 600+ HP VP44 trucks there and that was over 2 yrs ago. At the time I knew of a bunch of them ,off hand i can think of ,Steve Opie,Trevor Wood,Andy Sebek,Tim Barber, myself,Fred Huber,Meacham, and Merv, and later that yr once he got his twins and Mach6s C-Hawk.Im sure there was alot more, thats just off the top of my head.

It's funny, you guys mention the water injection not being on some of these trucks. Personally, I don't know how any of you do it without the water as I know my old 96' 12 valve will get DARN HOT without it!! Yes, I am above 600 H.P. and my 96' is a 12 valve with the P-Pump, but I know my 2002 Dodge CTD 24 valve was only putting down around 485 H.P. with a single HX-40/16 and even that truck (with a cam) still would hit 1500 degrees!

It must be nice!!

Wow, I wouldn't have guessed the line would hold that much gas....but the only Nitrous system I have been around is Brandon's, which would be a lot different judging from the amount of Nitrous used in each pass!

I guess my time frame was off...time slipped away from me But you named 10 trucks...how many more were there then, 5? Another 10? In a sea as big as the diesel performance world, is that too many to be considered a handful??

My point was that a 600hp VP truck is an accomplishment...especially 2 years ago. The only thing that has changed was then it was accomplished by what were beta, or custom parts like injectors, or chargers that hadn't been tried before! Even today, the amount of 600hp #2 only trucks is fairly slim compared to the number of 500-600hp trucks!

Heck, I'm shooting for 700hp on a 12v...that's been done too many times to count, so I'll still be a nobody even if I get there My hat's off to you guys that have done the work to get us this far...and I'm sure that most of you aren't done yet

John P...from my experience with 12v's, which is no where near yours, it takes a lot of air, and work in general, to keep these things below 1500*. I would bet there is no one over 600hp with a 12v that can't hit that number at will, without some sort of drugs.

Just curious, but what charger's are you running on yours?

If I offend anyone in this thread, be sure to let me know. I'm just glad that all you big power guys are willing to discuss how wrong I am on some points

Chris:

Yes, you are right, the 12 valves like to "crawl up" on those high EGT's with alot of fuel and air!

You asked about my turbos. Right now, I am running Scheids big
B-2 on the bottom and on the top I have one of Scheids Schwitzer 62's with the smaller "12" exhaust housing. I changed the top charger from that Piers HX-40/16 to that Schwitzer and the bottom end is much better Chris.

And BTW, you didn't offend me at all! I am always glad to have your input on this stuff.

Isn't it amazing how much better the Schwitzers are than the Holsets?? I'm finished with anything Holset smaller than an HX55

Your top charger sounds like my charger on the 95, which I am more than happy with spoolup AND EGT control...not too mention I saved about $1000 over a "comparable" 62mm charger built by one of the brand names

As for EGT's, I finally have one that doesn't have any EGT trouble...of course it doesn't have any power, either Since I took the 022DV's out of the 95, it will barely get to 1200* even towing!

Anyway...hopefully I'll make it down to Kentucky in March and get to meet a couple of you guys. I'm really not that bad in real life, maybe a little opinionated, but not terrible!

Chris:

Yeah you are right, the Schwitzers are tough and very efficient!

I think my son Johnner (banshee) and I are about the only two that ever really had good luck with the Holset HX-40's. But,.....we never ran them above 40lbs of boost either! As a single on my 96', I ran one for three (3) years and then had Scheid go through it and eventually used it as the top charger in my twin set-up. But like you said, it doesn't compare to the Schwitzers.

Looking forward to hopefully meeting you in Kentucky Chris. And believe me,...we are all a little "opinionated!"
